Mid-Atlantic Egg Council
Puglisi Egg Farms was founded in 1950 by Emanuel Puglisi. After Emanuel completed his service in the army, he and his wife Mary saved a little over $4,000 and bought 20 acres of land in New Jersey where the home farm still operates. They built their very first layer house consisting of only 2,500 layers, and by 1984 housed 140,000 caged layers that serviced retail grocers and restaurants all over New Jersey and parts of New York. Their sons John, Michael and Paul came into the business alongside their father and when he retired, they continued to grow and shape the family business. In 2008 they purchased a farm in Delaware that houses 1.2 million birds., and employs 45 people. Hen care and environmental stewardship have been at the forefront for the Puglisi family from the beginning, these values have been passed along to the third generation of Puglisi’s who operate both farms today, providing a quality and nutritious egg to their customers. Puglisi Egg Farms has expanded to selling eggs all over the country and has even sent eggs overseas to feed our troops in Iraq, and to Haiti during the tsunami disaster, all while being true community leaders and donating to our local food pantries, Little Sisters of the Poor and many churches throughout the area.
